Recorded in Los Angeles California in December 1962 and originally released in 1963 on the Verve label.

You may have already guessed that I occasionally hang around the jazz section in record stores, seeking out what could well be the best sounding new pressings of jazz classics. When that silver hype sticker states Verve Acoustic Sounds Series mastered by Ryan K. Smith and pressed at Quality Record Pressings, I know a record will sound great.

There are just three musicians performing on this album, but it fills the room - Ray Brown on double bass to the left, Ed Thigpen (great name) on drums to the right, and possibly Canada's greatest musician Oscar Peterson, on piano, centre stage - the great Norman Granz dealt with production.

This record sounds fantastic.
