Woman Sessions [R1 670994 DEU RSD2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] Imagine the full recording sessions of one of your favourite albums were preserved on tape for over fifty years and then cut complete by the great Bernie Grundman to a four album box set. I can think of quite a few albums that I would really like to hear in this format.These are definitely for the completists out there, however the quality of these studio out-take recordings is phenomenal.  The chatter between the various band members and producer Bruce Botnick is worth the price of admission alone. Botnick was also responsible for the mastering of the reels for this four album set. Things are going to quieten down a bit for the next week or so as I have to deal with other matters, in the meantime, this little lot will keep you lot busy!   The Doors - Waiting For The Sun [APP 74024-45 USA 2012 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] Doug Sax's mastering work for the Analogue Productions double 45rpm sets of The Doors' main albums is widely perceived as some of his best work, likewise these pressings are appreciated as the very best presentations of The Doors on vinyl.  Often considered as the difficult third album, Waiting For The Sun took a while to record due to Jim Morrison's regular state of inebriation, but it does contain a varied mix of baroque pop and experimental psychedelic rock, making the album an intriguing listen when played as a whole. It is time once more to dump my mid-eighties Warners Records mid-price pressing of an album by The Doors for what is very much a superior quality release. Mastered by the late Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab from the original analogue tapes and pressed onto two 45rpm platters by those very careful folks at Quality Record Pressings, here is L.A. Woman , very much as it was meant to sound. You should all know this album, though I would bet never before as good as this....   The Doors - The Doors [AAPP 74007-45 USA 2020 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] I recently paid forty-five quid for this album, the last copy that I bought of The Doors was a WEA mid-price copy (you know, the one with the exclamation sticker) for a tenth of that price around 1982.This version is a very recent deluxe packaged remaster from the original analogue tape pressed at 45rpm onto two virgin platters, my first is likely a West German pressing from a master cut by Strawberry in London.  I wonder which copy sounds best?  Without waiting for some of you to twiddle those thumbs whilst this downloads, and then do your a/b comparisons, I'll cut to the chase and say this 2020 Analogue Productions re-release, cut by the late Doug Saxe at The Mastering Lab in California around 2012 wins hands down.
