The Bar-Kays - Money Talks [VMP C039 / CR00325 USA 2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC] The eighth album by Memphis bases soul/funk band Bar-Kays was essential stitched together from unreleased tracks recorded for Stax Records by new owners Fantasy Records, following the band's new found success as a funk outfit on Mercury Records. The opening, and very heavy funk track Holy Ghost was to be a significant hit single reaching the dizzy heights of Billboard's number nine slot in 1978. If disco-funk wasn't your thing back in '78, then you may recognise a few elements borrowed by A Certain Ratio for their hypnotic 1992 dance anthem Wonder Y . Vinyl Me Please released this pure-AAA repress a few years ago using the original master tapes cut by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound.
