  Jah Wobble, The Edge, Holger Czukay - Snake Charmer [IMA 1 UK 1983 24-Bit FLAC] Taking his cue from New York dance music, London bass supremo Jah Wobble teamed up with Can's Holger Czukay (Jaki Liebezeit also works the drums on a couple of tracks), U2's The Edge and NYC disc jockey & producer Francois Kevorkian for this mini-album of tribal electro-funk, dub, funk-rock-fusion, afrobeat and soul.  The title track works its way through Material territory in two mixes, but for me it's the sublime soulful disco interpretation of Arthur Russel's excellent  Hold On To Your Dreams which needs your full attention. The Edge steps aside to let long-time Wobble collaborator, Animal riff out on the three minutes forty-seven seconds of funk-rock that is Sleazy .   Jah Wobble - Betrayal [VS 337-12 UK 1980 24-Bit FLAC] It's time to give your speakers a work-out with the longer twelve inch version of Betrayal , taken from his seminal  The Legend Lives On... Jah Wobble In Betrayal album. Martin Atkins' kick drum and the Wobble bass are mastered rather loudly in the mix, enough to make your speakers bounce around the room in unison. Those preferring some instrumental post-punk dub will be especially pleased to hear the highly apt Battle Of Britain on the flipside, complete will full-on spitfire sound effects. Youth Meets Jah Wobble - Acid Punk Dub Apocalypse [CADIZLP 184 UK 2020 24-Bit FLAC] Two legends meet for this excellent slab of post-punk dub released in very limited numbers a few weeks back. Both main protagonists should need very little introduction around here, however my lazy brain cannot immediately think of any other time they would have worked together on vinyl ....maybe I am wrong - answers on a postcard please. The list of collaborators will raise a few eyebrows, Rhiannon, Andrew Weatherall, Viv Goldman and Alex Paterson all worked on this album - Burnt Umber with The Orb's Alex Paterson is truly sublime and easily my stand-out. No other track sums up the album title as much as Panzer Dub with its stabbing rock-riffs and fuzzy guitars. Wobble and Glover may not be cool enough for today's kids and most will likely miss out on one of 2020's best albums as a consequence. Jah Wobble - Dreadlock Don't Deal In Wedlock [VOLE 9 UK 1978 24-Bit FLAC] The Whitechapel One teams up with Wayne Jobson and host of other dub specialists including Robbie Shakespear (instead of Wobble on bass) to bastardize The Owl & The Pussycat. Wobble's ranting toast would likely offend anybody who could not understand the irony. Although I doubt the single ever got any radio airplay before the watershed. Wobble's big fat reefer on the sleeve would only add to their disgust. Love and marriage is like ice cream and cabbage. The original backing track was recorded a year or so earlier at Channel One in Jamaica, and those with good ears will notice that the original engineer had failed to eradicate a humming amp. Jah Wobble ‎- The Legend Lives On... Jah Wobble In Betrayal [V 2158 UK 1980 24-Bit FLAC] Post-PIL Wobble's debut long player ripped from an original UK vinyl copy to high resolution FLAC. At the time other members of Public Image were quick to call foul as they accused Wobble of using parts of Metal Box across Betrayal .  I'm not sure how that works considering Wobble wrote the bass parts for Metal Box ?
