Flue - Vista [TORSO 335 NLD 1983 24-Bit FLAC] Flue were a Dutch experimental post-punk duo formed from the ashes of Mecano. Vista was their second album for the important Torso label and represents a journey from the Benelux coldwave wasteland of the early eighties through to the delights of Arabia and beyond. Savage Republic and Dead Can Dance were both to explore these references and influences in later years. Vista is a collaboration of styles; suitably gloomy English language vocals throughout, cold wave atmospherics, classical music (you need to hear Prolusion ) and eastern delights. The opening Esmafarja takes you beyond any Tuxedomoom or Minimal Compact composition, and is written three years before Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard went overly esoteric. Legacy is deep and evocative, with delightful arrangements of Spanish guitar, synths, piano and flute. Topic is dramatic with its concert piano, sax & string quartet over a pounding beat.
