Power Trio
Beck, Bogert & Appice - Beck, Bogert & Appice [MOVLP3276 NLD 2023 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
Originally released on Epic Records in 1973.
Here's the first of two albums today by great British guitarists, the first some heavy blues rock from Jeff Beck's power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice, featuring Americans Tim Bogert on bass & sharing the vocals and Carmine Appice on drums.
The other guitarist to be featured today is a little more eclectic in style, however just as skilled, so check back later for that one.
This edition of the trio's only studio album was marketed as a 50th Anniversary pressing limited to 1500 on translucent red vinyl on the Music On Vinyl label - there has subsequently been a more widely available black vinyl edition. The label operate out of the former CBS pressing plant in The Netherlands, so I can only make assumptions over the sourcing of the reels for this particular release.
Varying from raw & hard-edged blues rock to melodic seventies ballads, this is very much an album of its time and reissues have been few and far between since the seventies.
A1 Black Cat Moan
A2 Lady
A3 Oh To Love You
A4 Superstition
B1 Sweet Sweet Surrender
B2 Why Should I Care
B3 Lose Myself With You
B4 Livin' Alone
B5 I'm So Proud

ReplyDeleteThanks always liked this album anxious to hear it in this good quality
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, I love your eclectic approach to the ripping art, fantastic choices, always!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this edition! Been considering ordering it, but already have so many editions on vinyl and CD. If they had a good singer that could also write, they would have been one of the biggest bands ever. Will probably pull trigger on recently released grape colored 4LP Beck, Bogert & Appice - Live in Japan 1973 and Live in London 1974. Jeff Beck said before he died that this Live in Japan would sound better than the original.
ReplyDeleteNever expected to see this one here! A worthy, if underrated, selection. Nicely done! Thanks
