Cath Carroll - Moves Like You [FAC 307 UK 1991 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]

Nice & chilled nineties pop-dance from Manchester's fave pseudo-lesbian (just Google...The Gay Animals), fanzine writer and NME scribe Cath Carroll, which was pushed and pushed and pushed again by Factory Records' desperation for a hit. These days this record is highly desirable among collectors of the label and chill-out aficionados.

Whilst fronting indie-pop band Miaow!, Carroll became part of the Factory Records dynasty, she married Big Black guitarist Santiago Durango and began a solo career on the label. With Sheffield musicians Mark Brydon and Sim Lister (both from Chakk), she developed cool & sophisticated electronic dance music, and then incorporated elements (and musicians) from Brazilian jazz.

Moves Like You was never a hit, but it is a great track and deserves to be enjoyed again today.

    Checking my cd copy of "England made me". Part of it was recorded in Chicago with one Steve Albini as engineer.
    It candidly says "paid for in Manchester by Factory Communications Ltd"
    Always a strange record in my collection.
    Thanks for reminding me of it.
