The James Taylor Quartet - The Theme From Starsky & Hutch [URBX 24 UK 1988 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]

Old John Peel fave eighties mod-styled organist and his chums wave goodbye to indie obscurity on the excellent Re-Elect The President Records to sign for Polydor's 'pretend' rare groove label Urban, then unleash this almighty cover version of  the flared 70's tv cop show theme in two mixes with a bit of help from Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis and the Simon Booth from Working Week & Weekend.

The 'Funky People Mix' remains my go-to on this seriously funky record.

Somebody then came up with the term 'Acid Jazz' ...and then it all started to go wrong when young London hipsters dressed in corduroy jeans and sideburns took chemicals and pretended to be 70's funk & soul icons.
