In Continuum
John Mayer - Continuum [VMP-E091 USA 2022 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
It has been a while since we have had a 'Mainstream Tuesday' post, to some John Mayer's third long player Continuum is pure mainstream, however I sit firmly in the camp which believes this double album of bluesy soulful AOR is an essential listen, hence this rip of my copy from the Vinyl Me Please Essentials series.
The original multi-platinum selling album was released on Columbia Records in 2006 on digital formats, with only a limited quantity on vinyl for the US market only.Original US vinyl copies go for silly money these days and the first European vinyl release was a Music On Vinyl pressing from 2010.
In 2020, Vinyl Me Please licensed the album and handed the compressed digital masters to Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound for a new vinyl release and as one of the top five mastering engineers on the planet, Smith turned those files into a fine representation of Mayer's album for analogue listening, with his lacquers plated up at Quality Record Pressings.
Last year due to high demand, VMP repressed Continuum from the same metalwork.

ReplyDeleteLove it when you make room for squares on Tuesday. Although not as much as my wife would ... be careful, she'll start following you with content like this! (Actually, this could be a very savvy ploy given she's better equipped in the donation stakes than I am ... )
ReplyDeletemy needle time favorites power ranking: 1) old singles like the grandmaster flash one recently; 2) anything care of japan; 3) less canonical super mainstream LPs, such as this one right here. many thanks!
ReplyDeletePleasure, playing over and over, thank you BM
