Chant Number One

Donald Byrd - Chant [LT-991 USA 2019 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]

Not breaking with current tradition, this Sunday night's jazz slot is taken by another classic album, reissued and now out-of-print by Blue Note as part of their Tone Poet Series. I usually prefer for the music to speak for itself on Sunday nights ....so all you need to know is that this album was recorded with Rudy Van Gelder in 1961, however it sat in the Blue Note vaults released until 1979.

Accompanying the Byrd trumpet are Pepper Adams on saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Teddy Robinson on drums and Doug Watkins on double bass. This recent pressing was mastered from that very same original master tape at Cohearant by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI. It comes wrapped in a high quality tip-on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Press.

Have a great Sunday evening everybody.
