Shy Horses In Dub
Colourbox - Baby I Love You So [BAD 604 UK 1986 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
There could only have ever been one single to post after Escape From New York. If you know, you'll know, if you don't then you need to hear this.
It is time to crank up that subwoofer for Colourbox's dub heavy interpretation of Augustus Pablo's Baby I Love You So. Laden with samples and effects, the 4AD band produced one of the very finest cover versions ever, complete with top notch spaghetti western influenced b-sides.
I have ripped my original copy for other blogs, however now, after a few drops of surfactant solution and an ultrasonic bath, it sounds bloody amazing. This rip will sound great on headphones ...and incredible on decent sound systems.
Play loud!

DeleteFantastic work, new one on me...amazed at the quality given the year (the nadir of plastic cheese). Thanks a million!
ReplyDeleteMore plastic cheese coming soon! I have plenty!!
DeleteBest I have ever heard this....stunning
ReplyDeleteJust a sublime record and for me, yet another fantastic 23 envelope sleeve.
ReplyDeleteColourbox boldly went from strength to strength and were never less than jaw-dropping in what they pulled off musically, from plunderphonia to soul to dub. And Lorita Grahame... what a voice. "The Moon Is Blue" off their double-LP debut always makes my hair stand on end. Your rip of this sounds bloody brilliant as well. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteMaybe that album needs to revisit my turntable for a new rip
DeleteThat, as they would say in Wandsworth, would be the dog's bollocks!
DeleteI used to own all the Colourbox releases and began collecting 'em back in '87 when I was 'woke' by M/A/R/R/S material. That was then and since have sold the lot, opting for the 4 CD box set. Your rip of this (of course) is most welcome and probably sounds worlds away fantastic! Many thanks!
DeleteThis sounds fab mate
