Stompin' With Mister C
Ray Charles - Genius+Soul=Jazz [A-2 USA 2021 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
If you had told me back in July 2010 when I began seriously ripping vinyl, that one day I would post some big band jazz from Ray Charles, then I would have likely laughed in your face. Well, then here you are....
This post was supposed to happen yesterday, however I had better things to do yesterday evening. Originally released on Impulse Records in 1961, this immaculate pressing emerged in the spring of last year, courtesy of Analogue Productions and their Acoustic Sounds Series of Verve/Impulse reissues.
I have often been critical of modern day vinyl releases, this is how good they can sound when properly mastered on good quality flat vinyl using the AAA process. You will pay an extra fiver or a tenner for a release like this, however when they sound as good as this, they are worth every penny.
Play loud.

ReplyDeleteMany thanks.
ReplyDeleteBut what could be more important than Ray Charles!!!!! 😜
This is a flamin' masterpiece. Even growing up to postpunk I never stopped listening to this.
ReplyDeleteFucking wild from a man that couldn't see but could really see sound.
Burning horns and a voice to match.
Glad to see you have a taste for this as I do.
Jazz kicks ass too.
Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad to have found this. I don't have a turntable and yet I won a couple of vinyl releases from Impulse.
ReplyDeleteNow I can hear it, thanks again!
