Morning Mirage
Yoshio Suzuki - Morning Picture [HRLP238 JPN 2021 24-Bit 176.4kHz FLAC]
Originally released on JVC Records in 1984, Morning Picture is the fourth album by Japanese multi instrumentalist Yoshio Suzuki. Recalling the UK release back during the eighties' new-age period, when the genre was used to lump modern jazz, modern classical and modern folk together in an attempt to sell expensive compact discs to audiophiles. Suzuki has enjoyed a recent resurgence with thanks to Floating Points and the growth of the modern Balearic scene.
Late last year, the HMV Record Co in Japan repressed Morning Picture as a very limited release, I couldn't resist picking up a copy.
Yoshio plays all instruments on this record, some tracks will have a familiarity about them, Valpolicella September Walk especially. This music is based around a piano and a double bass, with a significant injection of the feeling of space. The Yoshio Suzuki sound is rich and deep, this is not a headphone album, this music needs much more than just the space between your ears for full enjoyment.
