Victories At Sea - Everything Forever [VAN 291 UK 2015 24-Bit FLAC]

I think that Birmingham is about as far from the sea as anywhere on the mainland UK, however this concrete conurbation gave us occasional indie popsters Victories At Sea who released their debut album of hook-filled euphoric electro-pop during the middle of the last decade, in a limited pressing of only 300. 

This was music for the download generation with limited attention spans as vinyl sales had not yet resurged, however the band cleverly opted to include a compact disc version and download link with the vinyl release. The blocks & flashes of colour on the greyscale sleeve rendering hint at the retrospective references contained within these grooves....

American indie-pop bands like Craft Spells and Wild Nothing had already dabbled with ideas borrowed from New Order, OMD, Erasure, Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears - it was only going to be a short while before a British band did the same, however I didn't expect it from Birmingham. So grab yourself this time capsule of polished indie-pop jewels and enjoy.
