Throbbing Gristle - 20 Jazz Funk Greats [IRL 003 UK 2011 24-Bit FLAC]

Originally released in 1979 on Industrial Records (IR 0003), which I ripped and posted a few years ago on ESWA. That rip was quite traumatic as the record was in quite a bad way, so today you get the 2011 remastered vinyl ripped for your listening pleasure.

Like other influential post-punk albums such as PIL's Metal Box or Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures when you listen closely to 20 Jazz Funk Greats you can hear how the band's abandonment of the normal was to bleed into the influence of many a musician who wanted to be different to the mainstream. Not just to the industrial generation, but to a whole plethora of post-punk & synthpop bands, as well as the numerous noise terrorists who followed on. To say this record is important would be an understatement, there was just nothing else like it at the time.
